Comun Tierra

Uma Exploração de Comunidades Sustentáveis na América Latina.

Técnicas Utilizadas

  • Organic Agriculture

Traditional or pre-industrial agriculture that seeks to maintain the natural structure and health of the soil, avoiding the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or genetically modified seeds. Growing organically requires using biological resources to fertilize plants, control pests, etc, and common techniques include rotating crops over time, composting animal waste and plant materials, and use of cover crops.

  • Natural Building or Bio Construction

Construction that follows sustainable principles in design and practice including: using sustainably harvested, primary materials, using recycled materials, using human labor and biological resources over mechanical/chemical resources, designing for low energy needs, high durability, and low maintenance.

  • Education

Organized educational activities to share concepts and techniques, including classes and workshops, events and formal study programs.

  • Animals

The care of and relationship with animals for food production, pest control, fertilization, transportation, etc. Can include fish, birds, cattle, chickens, pigs or horses

  • Permaculture

Permaculture is a system of design to create and maintain sustainable systems at a human scale (gardens and farms, ecovillages and towns). Sites/projects designed with a permaculture perspective aim to be environmentally sustainable, and equally important, socially just, and financially viable. Permaculture design is holistic, examining the whole system, trying to close resource or energy loops, and paying special attention to the relationships between parts/elements.
